How old do I have to be to audition?
To be considered for Aspire as a part or full time student you must be turning 13 in the year of your audition.
Junior Aspire are 10-12 years of age.
Aspire Associates 12-15 years of age.
What does a private audition day look like?
You will be invited to join a day of Aspire classes. Depending which day of the week you attend Aspire, will determine the timetable of your day. You will be given an outline of the day specifically for you in our correspondence prior to your audition.
Full time or part time?
Whether you are ready to train at an elite level full time and receive your schooling via Te Kura, or, whether you would like to remain at school and receive exceptional training to enhance your dancing further, we have the opportunities and possibilities for you. We can support you and pursue your dreams and goals with you.
What will I need to wear for the audition?
Females: Simple light colour leotard, ballet tights, flats and pointe shoes.
Males: Unitard or tights and a leotard, and flats.
I have an existing injury or condition - what do I do?
We require you to disclose to us before your audition day any prior injuries or conditions that would impact on your dancing. Along the process we will consult medical advice that you will need to seek personally or refer you to our Physio.
What are Aspire Associates?
Associates are welcome to attend our full time Aspire program for one week every term. They will also have the opportunity to join selected classes online to extend their training. Associates will have access to private coaching with CDS tutors over the week they participate. They will also receive regular feedback on footage of their dancing.

What to expect in the audition?
An audition consists of a classical class, pointe and contemporary sequences.
Aspire full and part time training programs along with Aspire Associates will be auditioned on the 12th of October.
Junior Aspire auditions are on the 10th of November at CDS.
What is Junior Aspire?
Junior Aspire is classical ballet training for young, up and coming dancers. It is especially designed for 10-12 year olds who are already considering pursuing ballet as a career. One afternoon will be dedicated to classical technique class, Progressing Ballet Technique and pointe preparation or development.
What does the full time course look like?
We focus on strengthening our dancers both mentally and physically. We believe to be resilient in this industry you need confidence, self-belief and physical strength.
We balance our training in both classical ballet and contemporary dance with education either via Te Kura or with your selected school.

$1100 + GST per month
Full Time Aspire Programme
Fees are charged to the students DSP Account monthly and by enrolling you indicate your agreement to our CDS terms and conditions.
*$65 audition fee for full time Aspire programme

Junior Aspire Programme
Junior Aspire is 3 hours, Friday afternoon 2:30-5:30pm per week, independent of the full-time course.

At Aspire we place importance on goal setting in the most holistic of ways. We love to support your dreams and aspirations, and are always looking at ways to encourage you toward your goals. We are also honoured to be the sister school of the NZYouthBalletCo. through which we can provide exclusive opportunities including our Level 4 NZQA Certificate of Dance Qualification from 2024 or our Level 6 NZQA Diploma of Dance Qualification from 2025.
Are there performance opportunities?
Yes, because of our alignment with NZYBC we are in the privileged position to offer Aspire students first preference as extra’s in NZYBC’s performances.
Is there a qualification I gain from Aspire?
Students work toward the Aspire Endorsement over the 2-3 years of their time in the programme. 2025 Graduating Full Time Aspire students will have the opportunity to work toward the one year NZQA Certificate in Dance at Level 4.
What does the Aspire timetable look like?
Students dance five days a week. This includes five hours of training in the morning/afternoon For those wishing to sit examinations, syllabus work is studied in the early evening.
Do I get to major in anything other than Ballet?
Aspire students explore a variety of repertoire and genre in their work, a significant portion of this includes contemporary and other modern genres.
What other services do you offer to support my training?
Lectures in sports psychology, nutrition, physiology; Reformer Pilates, Progressing Ballet Technique classes, gym membership, for cross training including cardiovascular and resistance training, access to preferred Physiotherapy and counselling services.
